Quebec home manufacturer’s revolutionary technology results in rapid expansion into global market
MONTREAL, QUEBEC – February 13, 2012 – Timber Block R-30 Ecological Homes proved its patented and revolutionary product is the way of the future in the home building industry. In just 8 years, Timber Block went from an idea in Mascouche, Quebec, to an impressive number of dealerships throughout the rest of Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada, and now, all over the United States and beyond.
Just 18 month ago, Timber Block expanded into the U.S. market. In that time, several dealerships have opened up coast to coast in the United States. Already in 2012, plans for new sales models have been confirmed for several areas, including North Carolina and Colorado.
Timber Block’s technology caught the eye of not only single family home owners, but international builders and developers, when they realized a home could be built with the beauty and feel of wood, but without any of the hassle typically associated with building with wood.
Timber Block President Mike Mathon says the success of the company came from the ability to deliver what the consumer asks for. “Building a home is a big decision for people, and so they certainly want it to be done right. They want the construction process to be completed quickly and efficiently, while never sacrificing the quality of their home.” Due to Timber Block’s efficient system building, the walls of a Timber Block home are assembled in hours, the home will be weather tight in days, and the home owner will be able to move in 60 days faster than other custom built homes.
Timber Block also realizes the importance of energy efficiency, and with its patented insulation procedure, every Timber Block home includes R-3o insulation in the walls – this greatly reduces the amount of the homeowner’s energy bill each month. Further, building with wood can be a concern, because wood will settle and check (crack). Timber Block’s wood is dried to an 8% moisture content, (furniture grade) eliminating the risk of settling and checking.
Further, people want to build their home the way they want to. “Almost 90% of our customers will customize their home. We are able to offer stock models, partial custom, and full custom – the home can be built from their dreams and ideas,” says Mathon.
Timber Block is a family-owned Quebec company and is a patented and proprietary product.
Timber Block’s newest model, the Sonoma will be featured at the Cottage and Country Homes Show at the Olympic Stadium, in Montreal, Quebec, February 16-19.

Environment and Sustainable Development Awards
This award is presented to companies that have developed new technological solutions in the realm of "green" practices that have been adopted or recognized for sustainable development on energy conservation, waste reduction or other gain in environmental terms.
"The use of fewer trees to make our homes, or about thirty trees less per home, and the recycling of our wood is close to our heart. Building a sustainable product was a second motivation. Finally, the creation of a product as the revolutionary R-30 insulated Timber Block, met our criteria for a positive legacy for generations to come. "We really are doing our part to conserve our forests and environment now and for future generations."

Timber Block R-30 Ecological Homes to build Brand new contemporary model home inside Montreal home show
MONTREAL, QUEBEC – JANUARY 31, 2012 – Timber Block R-30 Ecological Homes will unveil its newest model – the Sonoma – in its Contemporary Series at 2 upcoming home shows in Montreal, Quebec this February. The model home will be built and completely finished – interior and exterior – inside the Olympic Stadium.
The over 2200 square foot home will be one of the main attractions at both the City and Suburb Home Show February 2-5, and again at the Cottage and Country Homes Show February 16-19, also at the Olympic Stadium.
The Sonoma is one level, with almost 15 foot high ceilings in the living areas. It includes 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, open living space and outdoor living space. The model will be completely built, with a finished and furnished interior and fully landscaped inside the Stadium.
This latest model was designed by Timber Block President Michel Mathon. He says it was designed with the Contemporary homeowner in mind. "After designing homes for over 25 years, the Sonoma is the result of knowing exactly what the contemporary customer wants. It is one level, with high ceilings. The third bedroom is located near the front lobby so it can easily be turned into an office, and the bedrooms are all located on the same side, creating a more 'quiet' area." It also features the latest in modern design, with 240 square feet of outdoor living space, accessible from 3 different rooms.
To see the Sonoma inside a home show will be a treat for show-goers. There will be direct access from both sides of the home. "The people attending these shows will be fortunate, as the main show path will take them directly through the front entrance, with full access in all rooms and out the rear door," says Mathon.
Visitors will be able to walk through the Sonoma first at the City and Suburb Home Show, February 2-5 at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec. It will remain at the Olympic Stadium for the next show, February 16-19 at the Cottage and Country Homes Show.
While the Sonoma is the newest addition to Timber Block's collection, it includes everything that makes Timber Block one of the most trusted home Manufacturers.
Timber Block has more than 30 years of construction history. Its parent company was established in Quebec as a family business in 1977. Since its inception, Timber Block has been praised and awarded for its revolutionary technology, and has been decorated with the Diamond Award for Initial Quality and After Sales Service. A Timber Block Signature Home allows the customer to live in the most beautiful of homes, but with R-30 insulation, combined with a tight thermal envelope and capabilities to reach almost net zero, a Timber Block home is highly energy efficient, allowing the homeowner to enjoy substantial energy savings in their energy bills. Timber Block homeowners also are in their new home much sooner, allowing the homeowner to save money on less construction time, plus enjoy their home up to 60 days sooner than many other custom built homes.
Timber Block offers several stock plans, as well as semi and full custom, and is a proprietary and patented product.
Due to Timber Block’s rapid growth, in just a few years, Timber Block has expanded to Western Canada, Ontario, all throughout the United States, as well as Europe.

TIMBER BLOCK RECEIVES ENERGY STAR CERTIFICATION IN ALBERTA
It’s Not “Go Green” For Timber Block – They’re Already There
February 16, 2011 - When it comes to building an energy efficient home, Timber Block knows exactly what it takes to build green, and recently, they proved it.
Just last month, Timber Block of Edmonton (Alberta) was awarded with the prestigious title of being called ENERGY STAR® certified. This certification is part of a Federal Government initiative to promote energy efficiency guidelines that enables new homes to be built about 25 per cent more energy efficient than those built to minimum provincial building codes. After an evaluation is done with a licensed energy advisor, the home being tested must be rated with an Energuide level of 80 or higher. The Timber Block Aspen model easily exceeded the Energuide level of 80.
Paul Sirois with Timber Block of Edmonton says this is certainly exceptional. “We’re extremely proud, considering less than 5 per cent of new homes built in Alberta receive an Energuide rating of 80 or higher.” Sirois says not only does this show energy efficiency in the Timber Block home, but it also means even more money going back into the pocket of the homeowner. In Alberta, the provincial government hands out energy efficient grants. “Due to the Timber Block home exceeding the Energuide rating, the homeowner will be given a rebate of up to $3,500.” While this sounds great, there actually could be more “green” going back to the homeowner. “With the addition of energy efficient add-ons, such as solar panels, geo-thermal heating or triple pane windows, we could end up closer to a net zero home, or Energuide rating of closer to 100. This means the homeowner could be entitled to up to a $10,000 rebate.” Sirois says this is certainly possible to achieve with a Timber Block home, as this is unlike anything else out there in their product category. ``Less than one per cent of new homes built in Alberta achieve 86 or higher. Ours can get there.”
Sirois says this is what makes a Timber Block home simply a great home. “When it comes to Energy Efficiency, it is hard to beat our R-30 walls and superior Thermal Envelope.”
What makes this even more promising for consumers is the fact they can have their dream log home, without the worry of meeting the mandate of R-19 insulation or higher which many states have adopted as new building codes for all homes. All standard Timber Block homes have R-30 insulation – which is close to 400 per cent more insulation than most log construction.
Eric Forest had his custom, 2600 square foot home built in the summer of 2007. It’s a custom design based on Timber Block’s Denver model. It’s located in St-Jean de Matha, Quebec, just north of Montreal. As far as being energy efficient, Forest is seeing his entire energy bill average, less than $70 per month. Forest says, even in a snowy, cold Quebec winter, there are many times where he isn’t even turning on the heat. “I have just a small wood burning furnace, and if I’m burning wood, it heats up the entire house in no time – there’s no need for me to turn on the heat.”
Forest is very happy with his Timber Block home, and agrees it just feels “cozy” overall.
Timber Block prides itself on many attributes that make it unique – especially its patented system which produces its R-30 insulated logs. Premium grade Eastern Pine is combined with a high-density polyurethane insulation which bonds the wood under extreme high pressure. The logs are then stained, stacked with 6,000 pounds of pressure and thru-bolted creating panels. These panels of stacked logs arrive at the home site ready for a quick installation. The wall erection of Timber Block homes take hours - not weeks or months when compared to a traditional log home.

Timber Block Insulated Log Homes Exceeds the Building Codes in Pennsylvania
Changes to the building codes relating to insulation may have caused difficulty for traditional log home manufacturers to meet the codes, but Timber Block’s insulated log home far exceeds the requirement for insulation in walls.
Trout Run, PA (PRWEB) July 19, 2011
2009 building Codes relating to insulation in Pennsylvania increased to R19 in walls, which was not a concern for companies like Timber Block, but did ultimately become an issue for traditional log home manufacturers that were not meeting the new building code requirements.
Ray Venema, President of the Pennsylvania Builders Association, and a Timber Block Dealer, states, “Although the Pennsylvania legislature ultimately amended the building codes for traditional log homes, I am proud to be a part of a company with higher than average standards. Timber Block far exceeds the standard requirements for insulation.”
Venema says energy efficiency is one of the most important factors when building a new home. He states, “Timber Block invested in the research and technology to make sure they exceeded building codes, while also providing homeowners with a beautiful home that is environmentally friendly, green and highly energy efficient.” He says this is what makes Timber Block a leader in the home building industry, “The Timber Block product also lowers the footprint of new home construction by using lighter weight materials, which turns into less carbon consumed in the production of the Timber Block wall system, and also preserves natural resources.”
“Even though, the legislature has forgiven the insulation requirements for the standard log home, Timber Block will not relax its standards and its investment in the future,” explains Venema.
