A Classic Home….we’re talking about a home based on our Classic Collection – our models in our classic series have been designed for those who love the look of a log home (but prefer a highly energy efficient home, the use of green materials and technology and want to avoid the hassle and maintenance associated with most traditionally built log homes.)
When we ask where you plan on building, we don’t necessarily mean “Where” as in what city, town or state. We may mean “where” as in, a secluded area surrounded by trees? Water? Possible in a valley? A hollow? So many of our home owners have built their dream home in a spot that may be just a tad hard to find.
If you are one of these classic home owners who are thinking of purchasing land to build your dream home, here are a few things you need to know/consider before you buy:
Is your land big enough to allow for the square footage and design of your home, plus the landscaping you may want?
What about utilities? Take water for example. Will you have to dig a well, or do you have access?
Think about which way you want your house to face.
Find out about the sewer system.
How about the soil condition?
A certified builder or general contractor will be able to find out things like building restrictions.
Consider how long and wide you want your driveway. Are you thinking about a garage? Attached, or detached?
Any other additions, like a shed, greenhouse or pool?
