When thinking about building your new dream home, have you thought yet about the lighting? For some upcoming new home owners, this may not be something that’s thought about during the planning process. However, the lighting in your home can make a huge difference in the way your home looks and feels.

Have you ever been to a friend’s home, and it felt dim, therefore maybe even dingy? Or if it’s dark, you may feel cold and uncomfortable. In some homes, it may be all in the lighting.

We talk a lot about natural lighting. This is because so many of our stock plans, as well as the custom homes  we have built have many large windows. Natural lighting can be absolutely heavenly. The way your home is facing is also key to maximize the benefits of natural lighting.

On top of natural lighting being comfortable and soothing, it can also save you money. Timber Block already builds highly energy efficient homes, and when the home is facing a certain way, you can actual maximize your energy efficiency! If you can get in as much natural light into your home as possible, it will reduce the amount of energy needed in the home.

Further, did you know, natural lighting is good for you too? It is! Natural lighting is a mood booster – think about how stepping out into the sunshine can instantly make you feel better. You can get the same affect by letting in the natural light to your home. It makes sense how studies have proven, natural lighting in your home can even boost your energy levels!

We could go on and on when it comes to the benefits of natural lighting. Think about the plants inside your home. You can include  indoor plants as part of your interior design, and the plants will thank you for it by growing beautifully.

Also, natural lighting is not harsh at all. Sometimes, when we have fluorescent or incandescent lights, it can be a little hard on the eyes.

We have many pictures of Timber Block homes with an abundance of windows, letting in the warm and beautiful natural light. Click here to see our photo gallery.
