If you have “liked” Timber Block on Facebook, you may have noticed a few posts featured a model home from our Contemporary Series this week. Timber Block’s Contemporary Series certainly has a different look and feel when compared to our other series, such as the Classic. Each Contemporary Home is built the same way as our other homes. The wood is insulated, sanded, stained, stacked and bonded under 5000 pounds of pressure and thru-bolted every 24 inches in the quality controlled environment of our factory. It’s just as highly energy efficient too, with R-30 Insulation.

The difference is simply in the design, look and and feel. We understand people have different tastes – some people have waited their whole life to build their own log home, and want the look of a log home, and some want to build with wood, have a home built with the highest of quality, and be extra energy efficient, but want a more contemporary look.

The Sonoma is one of our newest model in the Contemporary Series. It was launched in 2012, when it was showcased at a home show in Quebec.

As you can see from this photo, it was a hit!

It was unreal how many people came out to see the launch of our new model! This is a photo of the front exterior of the Sonoma, built inside at the home show

It didn’t take long for word to get out to show-goers, they wanted to see for themselves what all the fuss was about! Take a look at the inside of the Sonoma!

The Sonoma is one level, over 2200 square feet, with ceilings just under 15 feet high in the living areas. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, with both open and outdoor living space.

The Sonoma model was designed by Timber Block President Michel Mathon. He says it was designed with the Contemporary homeowner in mind. “After designing homes for over 25 years, the Sonoma is the result of knowing exactly what the contemporary customer wants. It is one level, with high ceilings. The third bedroom is located near the front lobby so it can easily be turned into an office, and the bedrooms are all located on the same side, creating a more ‘quiet’ area.” It also features the latest in modern design, with 240 square feet of outdoor living space, accessible from 3 different rooms.
