Timber Block Talks Log Home Maintenance!

Log home maintenance. This is a top concern with almost anyone contemplating building a log home. Why? Many reasons. If you talk to someone who has built a traditional log home, they will tell you, most traditionally built log homes are high maintenance. And high maintenance turns into time and money.

One of the biggest concerns is settling. Log homes must be built to allow for “settling”, and even with carefully maintaining the  home during the settling period, there will likely be hairline cracks in  the logs. If this isn’t taken care of, there are many risks, including air infiltration.

Chinking is another expensive and time consuming part of owning a traditionally built log home. This is where the gaps are closed  staining.

Timber Block homes do not settle. They do not check. This is thanks to our system built process – there is no risk of settling or checking.

Staining is something that will be required – it will be part of your log home maintenance, whether you’re building a traditional log home, or a Timber Block Insulated Log Home.

When you’re walls are being taken care of in our factory (cut, sanded, insulated, thru bolted and bonded), your log are pre-stained. And actually, not only are they pre-stained, they are stained BY HAND! Every single log is hand stained.

There is a staining suggestion during the life of your home. See your Timber Block pro for more information.
