Anytime someone takes on the venture of building their own home, they want to know how long it will take to build. When we tell our customers what they can expect their timeline to be when building a Timber Block Insulated Log Home, they are pleasantly surprised!
The first step is to contact Timber Block. Ask every question you have – we are here to make sure all your inquiries are answered! There are things you will have to do, such as find land (if you don’t already have your land) and a builder. Your builder will be able to make sure to find out everything you need to do to prepare your land for your new home!
You will then figure out your floor plan. Searching through our floor plans – we have dozens of them in 4 different series – will give you a good idea of what you want. You can modify any of our floor plans, or work with our team of architects to create the home of your dreams! A $3,000 will get the floor plans started.
During this time, you will also decide on the log profile of your choice (flat, round, hand-peeled, true grain)
Once your floor plan is completed and signed off, your home will go into production. This is where your logs will be insulated, sanded, stained, thru-bolted and stacked to create the walls of your home!
This process will take a few weeks. In the meantime, you and your builder will be preparing for the walls to arrive (getting the land ready, building the basement, etc)
Then, the walls of your brand new dream home will be delivered! The good news is, most homes – up to about 3000 square feet will fit on one truck!
Then comes the really fun part – Your wall raising! This literally happens in hours! In under a day, you will physically watch your ideas become a reality!
Then, your home will be sealed – or dried-in. This should take about 7-10 days. After that – you and your builder will finish the interior of your home!
Overall the entire building process takes significantly less time than any conventional stick-built construction, and certainly a traditional log home!
