Timber Block’s Vintage Collection is something to be proud of. But when we go through the process start to finish with the home owner, it’s an absolute touching and wonderful thing.
This is the story of Cheryl and Dave Andrews, and their journey of building their dream home – in a dreamy location.
The Andrews’ built their Vintage house (an Alexandria model in Timber Block’s Vintage Series – with modifications) in Ontario – complete Canadian beauty. Cottage country at its absolute best. The Andrews’ found their dream land, purchased it, and went on the hunt of finding the company they would partner with to build.
The Andrews’ then found Timber Block, and we asked them what attracted them to Timber Block. ”The innovative technology, the energy efficiency and the unique style of the Alexandria, particularly the half-barrel, vaulted ceilings and the wrap-around covered verandas,” says Cheryl.
At this point, the Andrews’ knew an engineered home was what they were after, and of course, like everyone who goes through the process of building their dream home, the Andrews’ certainly did their research. “After evaluating all other engineered home options, Timber Block was the hands down leader.”
It’s safe to say, all Timber Block home owners have energy efficiency at the top of their list. We asked Cheryl if energy efficiency was important to them. “Paramount!”
As you will see below, the Andrews’ home was featured in a local issue of Our Homes magazine. You can see that while their home is highly energy efficient, the beauty of their home is outstanding.
The Andrews’ have 5 children – although, they’re not children anymore! They are all grown up with families of their own. We asked Cheryl how they feel about their new home. ” Our mature children (5) come and go with their families and friends as time permits, and they ALL love it! ”
It’s been a little over a year since the Andrews’ moved into their Alexandria, and we wanted to know how they “feel” in their home. ”We love how it holds the cool in the summer and the heat in the winter. We’ve been living here full time for 13 months and only had the air conditioner on once!” – and anyone from Ontario will know, the summers are hot and the winters are down-right cold!

After you check out the article and photos, you can see Cheryl has a knack for interior design! She is certainly talented, and in fact, she also turns that talent into beautiful artwork. Cheryl’s artwork will be on display at Timber Block Ontario’s grand opening event in Innisfil, Ontario next weekend – September 26-28. The grand opening will be the first look at two completed Timber Block models – the Milano from Timber Block’s Contemporary Series and the Labrador from our Classic Series.
