Fall 2013 is officially here!
For many people, fall is a wonderful time of the year – yes, it’s the end of summer, but everyone can likely agree, it is one of the prettiest seasons of all, as the leaves change color, you bring out your favorite sweater, and get ready for lots of wonderful family holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas!
As we head into October, we at Timber Block Insulated Log Homes thought you might appreciate some fall “tips”.
So, if you are getting ready to clean up or “winterize” your yard, here are a few things that will help get your yard and grass in tip top shape when spring hits!
Once those leaves start falling, you will have to rake often. As soon as the leaves fall, it takes just a few days before leaf build up to damage your grass.
As for your garden, now is the time to pull out your annual plants and flowers….(you can leave the roots). Now is also a great time to divide your perennial plants! Fall is also ideal to plant new perennials, shrubs and trees.
Make sure to trim and pull out any weeds from your beds and grass!
And fall is also a good time to fertilize – your grass, your trees and your shrubs! There are many professionals out there that will know exactly what your greenery needs, and many will come out and give you a quote and explain what needs to be done. If you want to do it yourself, you can head to your local garden shop and speak to a professional there that will give you the tips you need!
As far as maintenance on your home, if you are living in a Timber Block Insulated Log Home, you’ll know they are very low maintenance (especially when comparing to a traditional log home)….however, if you have been in your Timber Block home for about 5 years or so, now may be a good time for you to re-stain your Timber Block home.
