Now, let’s say you found the perfect piece of land, what you have to do to that land will play a factor in budgeting as well. How much work will it be to get the land custom home ready? Also considering sewer/septic, wells, grading and landscaping will all be things you will need to consider when coming up with the budget suited for you.

Let’s now talk about the actual cost to build. First, it really matters where you are building. First, the size and style will come into play. The finishings on the inside is a considerable factor, and certainly where you are building will determine the cost to build. For example, building in some places in Ontario and British Columbia will certainly be different in the Maritimes, In the USA, places in California will be different than building in -let’s say - rural Kansas.

Finally, you must think of other additions, like a porch, or deck, the framing of either, and the materials you will want to use. Things like 3 or 4 season rooms will have to be considered as well.
